To All Recording Customers:
A significant piece of legislation, CS/CS/SB 2962, which impacts the recording of documents in the Official Records was passed. (The bill may be viewed at www.flsenate.gov, SB 2962, pages 44 through 48). Although the Governor has not yet signed this bill, we feel that it is very important to alert you to a change that will go into effect on TUESDAY, JUNE 1, 2004.
Effective June 1, 2004, there will be an additional $4.00 per page increase in the service charge associated with recording documents in the Official Records. This service increase is to be used for providing technology funds for the Clerk of Courts, the Judges, the State Attorneys and the Public Defenders. Please note this increase is per page. On June 1, 2004, the cost of recording documents in the Official Records will be $10.00 for the first page and $8.50 for each page thereafter.
The only exception for recording is a Notice of Lis Pendens which will remain the same price as before.
If you have a document to record in the Official Records, we ask for the documents to be in our office on or before Thursday, May 27, 2004. We will make every effort to have all documents recorded before 5:00 P.M. on Friday, May 28, 2004. Any documents which we are not able to record before June 1, 2004, will be returned to you for the additional recording charges. Please be advised the courthouse will be closed on Monday May31, in observance of Memorial Day.
A suggestion is to increase the service charges on all closing during the last week of May. If you submit the higher fees and your documents are recorded before June 1, 2004, a refund check will be issued.
I would appreciate it very much if you would share this information with your colleagues and other persons in your organization. We urge you to get your documents in as soon as possible during the month of May.
Any documents recorded on or after June 1, 2004, will require the higher recording fees and there will be no exception
If you have any questions concerning this increase, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,
